Case study overview

Glen Clova Hotel is set in the beautiful backdrop of the glens of Angus. This resort prides itself on its Scottish roots while providing a modern and attractive service to its customers, they offer high quality food, accommodation with contacts to outdoor activities within the area.

We were contacted by Glen Clova Hotel and they were assured by our past experience that we would be able to provide exactly what they were looking for.

It was essential that the site detailed the types of food and accommodation as well as the vast array of activities on offer within the area.

Case study approach

Although the primary service is the accommodation, the various activities within the area is one of the key reasons people seek adventure in Scotland so it was very important to incorporate this into the design.

The design had to be simple and accessible so the services could be clearly understood and located. Simplistic design attracts customers and there understanding of the site will attract the business.

After investigation, together with Glen Clova Hotel, we came to realise that the design had to clearly distinguish between the different services and allow quick access to each of the them.

Customers when seeking accommodation at this resort were interested in the following:

  • What kind of accommodation is available?
  • What pricing plans area available? 
  • What food services are available?
  • What type of activities are available within the area?

Glen Clova Hotel were very keen to portray the beautiful location that the hotel is situated in as there main selling point with the activities within the area as additional opportunities for business. They offer high quality accommodation, fresh food made on site and have contacts to local events.

The site needed to offer full comprehension of the Glen Clova Hotel experience.

Case study outcome

To manage all of the content the site was split into separate sections allowing for quick access to each type of service. The main page further simplifies the navigation by splitting site content into three sections, accomodation, food and drink and local activities providing access to the key parts of the website.

The brand was kept simple, and overall design easy to access.

The types of accommodation (Hotel, Lodges and bunkhouse accommodations), food, price and activities were given ample room to fully educate as to what the customer will get with each service.

The enquiry interface on the last menu of the site allows visitors to not only get in touch with the hotel but to also subscribe to the company newsletter.

Glen Clova were very impressed with the solution that we delivered or them and they have seen a remarkable increase in customer enquiries.
