Jo Russell is an independent contemporary artist. Her work is abstract and she required a website to showcase her work and to facilitate sales or interest.

With no web presence at all and with fairly interesting ideas for her site, she asked us to provide a design to complement her paintings and to allow her to keep in touch with prospective buyers.

The main focus had to be the paintings, so Jo asked us to feature the artwork on the site as prominently as possible.

She did not have any specific requirements other than for the site to be impressive and easy to use.

Being an art portfolio site, we advised that using a full flash site to present her work would be the best approach in ensuring that it made the right impact.

We took the time to photograph her work to help provide a consistent representation of the paintings for the site, taking her through many design concepts before deciding on the final proof.

The site makes an immediate impact, using close-up photos of selected paintings for the main view of the site.

Loading quickly the site offers instant access to the paintings that Jo has produced and the display interface morphs to suit the differing dimensions of the pieces as they load.

A simple bio section was built and contact area.

Jo was very pleased with the results, and we are equally pleased to be informed that she has acquired several sales and commissions as a result of the new site.
